GBS PS

Not really an ultrasound question, but there is clear national consensus among ObGyns based on joint statements issued by ACOG, AAP and CDC recommending how and when antibiotic prophylaxis should be used for GBS+ women, including women who have previously delivered an infant with invasive GBS. Cesarean is not part of the management for GBS alone, in other words the presence or absence of GBS does not alter the decision about route of delivery. See <http://www.cdc.gov/groupbstrep/docs/RR5111.pdf> and other materials at <http://www.cdc.gov/groupbstrep/hospitals/hospitals_guidelines.htm>.

Hope that helps

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
