Hi, An increasing number of Australian General Practitioners use ultrasound in their rooms and in local accident & emergency departments - especially those who are located in rural and remote areas. The Australian Institute of Ultrasound (AIU) runs a 5 day practical training program for these doctors and the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) has a certificate program called CCPU (Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound) Sue

Hi,

Do general practitioners (aka: primary care physicians & family physicians) in your countries use the ultrasound at the point of care ? Is there a suitable syllabus / training course in ultrasound targetted at general practitioners ?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
