Nuchal Translucency Credentialing

The Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program is offering a complete 4.5 hour NT course – “Nuchal Translucency Credentialing“ preceding the upcoming SDMS Annual Conference in Denver, CO on Wednesday, October 11 from 1 - 5:30 PM. SDMS has approved this independent educational activity for 4.5 CME credit hours.

This outstanding course, directed by Wayne Persutte, PhD, MS, RDMS and Pam Foy, RDMS, will include a panel of expert speakers including Drs. John Hobbins and Lorraine Dugoff. The course addresses first trimester risk assessment strategies and will benefit sonographers and sonologists who perform NT measurements.

Benefit for those who intend to offer Nuchal Translucency measurements: This Nuchal Translucency program will fulfill all content needs leading to completion of NT credentialing to become a participant in the ongoing NT Quality Review program. Course attendees are eligible for a promotional package which includes free program registration, exam, image proficiency review and feedback regarding strategies to improve acquisition of NT measurements. Credentialed providers will be eligible to participate in ongoing epidemiologic monitoring.

Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to:
    • Explain the scientific research that validates these newer methodologies
    • Demonstrate in detail the critical requirements for reproducibly obtaining accurate Nuchal Translucency measurements
    • Enumerate the important additional fetal syndromes, conditions and anatomic
    malformations that are associated with first trimester abnormal NT measurements
    • Provide the didactic basis to complete the credentialing process by taking the on-line examination and submitting NT images.
Once the on-line exam and image review have been successfully completed, a certificate of satisfactory completion will be issued.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
