I think the radiologists are making a big mistake by encouraging off-hour outsourcing. They identify themselves as unnecessary. If a foreign radiologist is good enough to read images at 2 AM, why aren't they good enough to read them at 2PM? My experience with overseas radiologists has generally been a good one. If the radiologist isn't going to be in the room where the patient is, then the next room or the next continent are equivalent.

As for ultrasound, I still think it is so user-dependent that outsourcing still seems a long way off. I don't think that "volume scanning" with overseas image manipulation is likely in the near future.

Yes, and many more will be... I mentioned this in the previous post. At least the radiologist will get to stay in bed, those who work with/on the patient will be needed. .

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
