Re: Tom Cruise Ultrasound Maven

Well said, Dr. Smeltzer.

There is some truth on both sides of this issue. We probably are justified in trying to curb the prenatal use of ultrasound by unqualified people or for the wrong purposes.

On the other hand we really do not know what Tom Cruise is doing with the ultrasound machine that he supposedly moved into his house. Maybe he has made arrangements for all of his girl friend's prenatal care to be done in his home, so she will not be inconvenienced. Maybe he plans to have an expert sonologist or sonographer do all the examinations, and he is perfectly aware that he is not qualified to use the machine.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
