Thanks dr. fazeel -------Original Message------- From: Dan Merton Date: 09/20/05 12:19:36 To: DuBose, Terry Cc: fazeel@abt.wol.net.pk Subject: Re: Attention please..All friends....USG rule regulations Hi Terry, The questions seemed to be more general as opposed to just sono-hysterography (or did I miss something?). I would refer this individual to the SDMS's "sonographer's scope of practice" but recognize that what is considered w/in the scope in the U.S.A. may be different than in other countries, especially those that do not have many sonographers - thus he should inquire about his concerns through the local medical authorities. Our Jefferson Ultrasound Research & Education Institute has several Pakistan affiliates - that I believe offer sonography training programs and they may have some guidelines too. See: http://www.jefferson edu/jurei/affiliate/index.cfm there are links to the Pakistan affiliates - he can choose the closest and communicate directly w/ them. The World Health Organization (WHO) may be another source of information - I know they have sonography (ultrasound) training guidelines for both radiologists as well as non-radiologists (OB/GYN, Urology, etc) http://www who.int/bookorders/anglais/detart1 jsp?sesslan=1&codlan=1&codcol&codcch5 But again its the local regulations/guidelines that will ultimately need to be identified and adhered to. He could also inquire about it w/ the WFUMB http://www.wfumb.org/ . Other sources (from a quick Google search) he can utilize: Pakistan US Society: http://www.pakboi.gov.pk/pak/xdetail.asp?ComID=3616 An IVF Dr. in Pakistan's web site: http://www.ivf.net/content/index php?page=out&id31 I know Cindy Rapp does sono-HSGs so she may be able to describe what Tom Stavaros did to get her qualified - her email is listed in the last ARDMS meeting book. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
