Hello, I am a (non-college degree) Chief Sonographer at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Florida (USA), fully certified by ARDMS. I have over 20 years of direct clincal expereince and I am considered highly expert in my field(s). I mostly perform highly complex diagnosis type testing along with standard OBGYN as needed in a very busy Hospital. I am trying to apply to the New Zealand Board, however I am concerned that my lack of a specific college degree may delay my acceptance. I would be able to submit numerous refereences along with my ARDMS records with my application but I heard that NZ does not yet recongize fully the ARDMS qualifications. Can you provide any contacts or advice on how best to submit my application to avoid the re-testing and associated fees. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marion

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
