(ROCKVILLE, MD, June 15, 2005) - The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) has earned the prestigious accreditation for certifying bodies from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Accreditation is granted through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the U.S. sponsoring organization to ISO. By achieving ANSI-ISO accreditation, ARDMS has become the internationally recognized standard in ultrasound credentialing. "ANSI-ISO accreditation is truly one of the great accomplishments of ARDMS in its 30-year history. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
