prenatal testing in California

California mandates that triple, not quad, screen be offered to prenatal patients. Follow-up testing isn't free. The cost is built into the cost of the triple screen, ie a true insurance approach where all pay a small amount so that those few who have (mostly) false positive tests aren't burdened personally.

The place of first trimester risk assessment in Ca must be determined. Larry Platt may want to comment further, though I think he won't be getting access to email for the next couple of days.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
