Never heard of abortion for theca lutein cysts, though it would work via removal of source of HCG. I have aspirated simple symptomatic cysts under US guidance with instant relief - technical note: aim for where the center of the cyst will be once it shrinks, near the lateral attachment of the ovary. One recurred with symptoms and had repeat aspiration. Else all have done well.

If less than 12 weeks use temporary P supplementation.

Dear Joe C., Why not surgically remove the cysts at about 20 to 22 weeks ? (I think gynecologists recommend this approach here in India). Joe A, India.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
