Re: Yolk sac number in multiple gestations (monochorionic)From: Rich Dempsey RDMS/RVT (ridem@msn.com)Fri Jun 25 00:11:55 2004
The actual "numbers" were: LMP consistent with a GA of 5.5 wks Mean GSD = 12mm bHCG = 17,600 “Yolk sac” # 1 = 2mm “Yolk sac” # 2 = 6mm “Yolk sac” # 3 = 4 mm “Yolk sac” # 2 had an area of focal thickening, perhaps a very early embryo, which measured ?(CRL) 2.3 mm. No cardiac activity was seen. mGSD and CRL were 5w4d (possible IUP) . Mean bHCG is reported in the literature to be 16,870 for a gestational sac of 12-13 mm. (Range 11,230-25,640) . I haven't been able to upload the 2 small jpegs to demonstrate findings, and have emailed them as attachments, instead. Sequential bHCG's are planned.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
