OBGYN.net sadly announce the passing of Vladimir Nikolaev, MD, of Batumi, Republic of Georgia. Dr. Nikolaev was a respected Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Sonographer. He contributed many interesting case studies to the Ultrasound Section. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

To see a complete listing of Dr. Nikolaev's submissions please go to: http://www.obgyn.net/us/us.asp

Vladimir was an enthusiastic and persistent participant on the Ultrasound Section of OBGYN.net. As recently as this month he submitted two case studies. I received a message from him just this morning, which he was unable to complete, and his staff sent it on. The text of those messages is below.

Though I never met Vladimir face to face, it truly saddens me… he had become a cyber friend. Dr. Vladimir Nikolaev, you will be missed.

Peace, Terry J DuBose, M.S., RDMS Little Rock, Arkansas USA

Dear Mr. DuBose Dear Susan

Sorry to inform you that I am very ill now. According to latest (but still not completed information) I was given the following diagnosis: mural thrombus of aorta or detachment of inner coat of aorta. I need meticulous examination, may be aortagraphy. It is rather difficult to get medical aid of this kind in Georgia, the possibilities here are very limited and I am inclined to be treated for in Greece as I have Greek citizenship. I would be very obliged if you have any information of clinics in Greece carrying out such operations. I would appreciate your advice. Looking forward to your answer. Sincerelly yours Vladimir Nikolaev

Dear Mr. DuBose We are many friends of Vladimir Nikolaev sorry to inform you that was the last letter of him to you. He could not send it. He died of aoric rupture on February 23, There was no possibility to help him. He hurried to live and burnt down in a flash. We thank you in his name.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
