Re: Two Yolk Sacs, one embryoFrom: Terry J. DuBose (duboseterryj@uams.edu)Thu Jan 30 16:14:12 2003
We have revised Dr. Libardi's case of early twins... he has provided follow-up today. We have removed the "double bleb" information, which was clearly not applicable in this case. >http://www.obgyn.net/us/us.asp?page=/us/present/0301/libardi_oneembryo Using Dr. Libardi's measurements in BASIC BABY software to estimate ages, I got the following: Larger embryo: CRL = 8.7 mm = 6.9 weeks EHR = 139 b/m = 6.8 weeks Smaller embryo: CRL = 7.7 mm = 6.7 weeks EHR = 129 b/m = 6.4 weeks Based upon the CRL age of 5w5d on Jan. 21, 2003, an age of about 6.9 weeks would be expected today. The report of one irregular sac is worrisome, but based on the measurements, these look very much like normal, yet slightly discordant twins. The 12 week follow-up will be anxiously awaited. Thanks for a great case from which all of us can learn. Peace, Terry J DuBose
