Re: 2 YS 1 Embryo New PicFrom: Dott. Andrea Corda (acord@tin.it)Tue Jan 21 18:03:49 2003
What is the diameter of the yolk sacs? It seems that it is quite bigger than the CRL.(say 5 mm compared to 2 mm CRL )If it is so, this monochorionic twin pregnancy has few chances to proceed and many chances to have a chromosomal anomaly (namely:aneuploidy) Were you able to detect a cardiac activity? And if so,how many BPM? Up to 5 mm CRL both CRL and outer yolk sac diameter grow with the same pace. You can't have a difference at such an early phase of gestation. When there is-and it seems so in this picture-almost certainly you're dealing with an aneuploidy-one embryo has already disappeared-the other is on the way.(and in the end you'll finish up with a blighted ovum). Let us know the follow up .Also,if possible (of course if I am right) try to get a karyotype of the abortive material. Andrea Corda MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
