True Notebook Ultrasound SystemFrom: Vance Cheryl A MSgt 382 TRS/XYAG (Cheryl.Vance@sheppard.af.mil)Wed Dec 18 06:59:27 2002
Art: I agree...ultrasound is going in previously unimaginable directions. Even beyond GE's "notebook" portable ultrasound unit is the Terason2000 (http://www.terason.com). It is a true laptop ultrasound system (meaning it an ultrasound system that actually runs directly off from a laptop/notebook....any computer). So while you are traveling remotely, not only do you have an ultrasound system, but you also have your personal computer right there with you...no additional computer required for your personal computing needs. And the cost is unbeatable...approximately $26,000 for basic unit including laptop and one probe...each additional probe $10,000 (that was last year's pricing...they have made many updates since then, so I assume the cost has changed a little). The only drawback is adjusting the gain via mouse clicks rather than the conventional slidebar tabs sonographers are so accustomed to. Ultrasound Rocks! Women's reproductive health services Ann imho the biggest development in ultrasound for the world by GE was not their acquisition of the voluson patent - it was the notebook ultrasound - truly portable ultrasound ala the man with his notebook traveling to the bush to scan will bring the lab to the people. now to work on that price... peace on earth. art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
