MyomaFrom: kate cronin (kate.cronin@project120.com)Fri Dec 13 04:28:44 2002
I have been looking at various websites this morning after having been told today that I have a 5 cm myoma on the posterior outside wall of my uterus. This was discovered during a routine ultrasound and pap smear. The myoma has grown one centimetre in the last year, and she thinks that there is also a smaller one in the front. Both outside of the uterus. I am 36 yrs old, not pregnant, and am not experiencing anything out of the ordinary during my menstruation cycle. I am stuck in Germany for work purposes and though I have a very good gynocologist here, there is somewhat of a language barrier. I have been given 2 options. 1/ if I don't want children, then leave it. 2/ if I do want children, then I must have it removed with the risk of losing my uterus. In the medical world, what is the general opinion of surgery carried out in Germany. Is it highly regarded, or not that advanced..if I opted for surgery, I could have it done in the US in San Francisco, or in New Zealand. Naturally I am in panic mode right now, but I wanted to ask you whether you had any opinions on this situation given the very basic details ? I would like to have the option of having a pregnancy in time, though when I am unsure. Any ideas ? Many thanks for your assistance....I feel a bit out on a limb stuck over here.hope you can help. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
