Re: Embryonic Heart Rate 23 weeksFrom: UltraKath@aol.comTue Dec 3 15:16:20 2002
Dr. Patricia, There are many reasons you could have a heart arrythmia at 23 weeks...and a lot of smarter minds will advise you more...but as a sonographer I'd suggest a pediatric cardiac ultrasound....at the most....and a good cardiac ultrasound done anytime now that includes four chambers, LV outflow, ao. root and arch., cross over of the major arteries....usually included in a 20 week routine ultrasound. And I have to add that I wish I had a dollar for everytime, while showing the parents their baby on the screen, the fetal heart all but stops...due to vaso ?? constriction or position... I quickly move to another view until the heart rate picks up again....this used to panic me,,,in the earlier days........Im sure the brighter minds on this line will give you more extensive information...just wanted to add to the mix.....Kathy RDMS,

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
