The patient was a Sonographer, so we followed it for several menstrual cycles. The patient was having some irregular spotting and bleeding. We at first suspected that it was a retained clot. When the appearance didn't change over 3 cycles, we suspected a polyp. The patient then caught the flu, and during the course of that she bled very heavily, almost to the point of hemmorhage. Her subsequent exam showed a normal endometrium. I would assume that it was, in fact, a retained clot.
