Re: new case-- JoeFrom: Dianne Walkup (diannewalkup@hotmail.com)Mon Dec 2 14:52:18 2002
Greetings, I have seen this same appearance in an odd case. The patient was a Sonographer, so we followed it for several menstrual cycles. The patient was having some irregular spotting and bleeding. We at first suspected that it was a retained clot. When the appearance didn't change over 3 cycles, we suspected a polyp. The patient then caught the flu, and during the course of that she bled very heavily, almost to the point of hemmorhage. Her subsequent exam showed a normal endometrium. I would assume that it was, in fact, a retained clot. A sonohysterogram would have given us the answer sooner, but it was prior to them becoming widely used.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
