Greetings, I am sure I am not the only Sonographer who has realized that there are very predictable tissue density differences in some ethnic groups. The Islanders (Fijis, Hawaiians, Samoans) and my fellow Native Americans have very dense tissue characteristics with ultrasound, no matter what their body size is. Some of the Ethiopian tribes have tissue that is extremely easy to see through, and one could hire them as ultrasound models without regard to their size. I have not worked with very many pediatric patients, but I would wager that this is not an acquired trait, but is hereditary, and thus would be present in fetuses.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
