Re: ULTRASOUND digest 1726From: Terry J. DuBose (duboseterryj@uams.edu)Wed Sep 25 14:24:35 2002
Jan, I think the major issue is probably that there is no regulation as to who will be doing these things. Will they recognize an omphalocele or a VSD… will they care, it is "non-medical", correct? It is one thing to have a certified sonographer, but as it stands now, it could be anyone. Also, will the client know if the person doing their sonographs knows what they are doing or not? Will they think that this is a substitute for a legitimate diagnostic sonographic examination… or will the individual entrepreneur avoid that question so they can collect the cash? I think it is the "greasy" greedy feel of the business that bothers most of the real professionals. Terry J DuBose, M.S., RDMS, FAIUM, FSDMS Little Rock, Arkansas USA

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
