Karen, I think "level three" is a meaningless term. Probably used by some to inflate their ego(s). There are different ideas about how the level 1 and 2 got started, and the meaning. The AIUM and CPT codes do not recognize any but complete and limited exams, no levels 1 or 2. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
