Re: Fw: Ultrasound for Entertainment PurposesFrom: Karen Roersma (kroersmardms@netscape.net)Mon Jul 15 20:20:01 2002
So, Alan, exactly what are your credentials for performing "limited obstetrical" sonograms? You are not ARDMS registered! Do you inform your customers that ultrasound energy is not without biological effects, but is considered safe within the confines of the DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL scan, because the information obtained offsets the potential risk of harm, and that what you are providing is neither diagnostic nor medical? Are they willing to risk that for the sake of a computerized photo of their baby? By the way, if you wish to have a meaningful discussion with anyone, you have to use a more respectful tone. Your only defense appears to be attacking others and writing scenarios for our lives which simply aren't true, but wishful thinking on your part. We discuss such matters because we CARE about our profession and despise anything which undermines it or the public's perception of it. Best of luck in getting a positive outlook on life.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
