Ultrasound for Entertainment PurposesFrom: J Tomko (buddy@redrose.net)Mon Jul 15 05:13:56 2002
Mr? Dr? Silkes never addressed the sonographers on this list. I find that somewhat an elitist position to take. May I offer my many patients YOUR phone number to explain the *true medical use* of this technology? Mr. President of First Look - there are many of us in the trenches dealing with true day to day events in the life of sonography. Some of us are making a mere pittance of a salary compared to the amount of work and knowledge needed. It is love of our profession (please take the latter word there into consideration). I personally found your comments inflammatory and suspect some deep rooted issues that do not pertain to providing medical care. I hope you find peace and I hope you find solace that you are taking funds from poor folks (clients) that could be spent forming a college fund, better nutrition for their family, nicer move to a better school district. I have worked for private organization ' for profit'. If you truly believe in what you are doing show some philanthropy. Offer your product at a reasonable cost. How about a 100 % mark up on the cost of the film. That should cover your operating costs without harm or are you looking for that bigger SUV, a beach home and some great vacation? Donate to the sonography tuition fund, donate to research orphan disease conditions. Do you have a chaplain or psychologist available when a client presents to First Look and no heart beat is observed? Does your medical training enable you to guide the patient to options in the event of an anomaly found? I believe a majority on our board offer these services in the event when this is found on a true medical examination. We are trying to learn more about First Look, why not also try to learn more of what drives us in this world of OB sonography. Please do not flame these wonderful people that have passion for quality medicine. Humbly and somewhat disappointed in your response to our group justifying your company, Janet Tomko, RDMS Date: Sat, 13 Jul 2002 23:00:18 -0500 (CDT) From: alan@firstlooksonogram.com (Alan) To: ULTRASOUND@OBGYN.NET Subject: Re: Fw: Ultrasound for Entertainment Purposes Message-ID: <200207140400.g6E40Ib21237@mail.medispecialty.com> I'm glad that you have so much time on your hands to look so closely into my business. You must all be such great doctors that you need not spend so much time with your patients since you spend all your time monitoring my company and every move we make. Before you are so sure what we do and what our financial situation is, why don't you take the time to first investigate the situation. I guess that you are all so remarkably knowledgeable that you need not consult with anybody but yourselves and your miserable message board that does nothing buy complain about everything instead of using it as a positive venue. You all must live such a terrible life that you have so much hate filled in your hearts and your egos must be so large that I assume that you all must drive the largest of SUV's in order to squeeze your large heads in there. If anyone cares to discuss my company and its operations with me, I honor your challenge and look forward to hearing from you at alan@firstlooksonogram.com or please feel free to call me anytime at the company. I'm sure you all know the phone number since you spend so much time on my website. Talk to you soon, I'm sure. Best regards, Alan Silkes President, First Look Sonogram

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
