Re: GE 4D adverts

It bugs me. Every day patients ask if we have the "new" ultrasound machine that gives the good pictures in color. It doesn't occur to them that the reason for the ultrasound exam is to look for anomalies. Ignorance is bliss, but it would be kinda nice if they asked if their baby was ok before they demand a perfect picture like the one they saw on TV.

My personal opinion is that GE could do us all (in the ultrasound world) a huge favor if they would show a fetus with an obvious anomaly, and assure the public that if their fetus has a problem like this, that the GE ultrasound machine will find it (in the hands of a real sonographer, of course).

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
