Fetal Cerebral Ventricles

My nephew was born at 27.5 weeks. So far he has been doing great - with no major problems. A couple of days ago the doctor told my brother and his wife that one of his ventricles appeared to be larger than the other one. When asked if this was bad, he said no, just not normal. They tested him for IVH and he does not currently have this. Tonight there was a pamphlet on PVL taped to his isolette. A nurse put it there. My question - because I can't find any information on it - is what significance is it that one is larger than the other one? Does this necessarily mean that the baby will have developmental problems? What causes one to be larger than the other? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
