Luis - Obstet Gynecol 2001:97:42S-43S not exactly the issues you raised - in this study out of Canada they compared performing amnio with or without the stylet - the conclusion was that there was no diff in incidence of maternal cell contamination and that the open-needle technique was safe. art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
