Yes, that was what the R&D folk at ACUSON indicated; however, I am not sure how serious they were. Seems it may have been "tongue in cheek"... Peace, Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS Assistant Professor & Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program CHRP, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Little Rock, Arkansas, USA 501-686-6510 http://www.io.com/~dubose/ http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm -----Original Message----- From: Doc Gynéco [mailto:jmbr@wanadoo.fr] Sent: Tuesday, May 21, 2002 5:15 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ULTRASOUND Subject: Re: Doppler_history le 19/05/02 16:15, Terry J DuBose : Dear Dr. Stevenson, I want to thank you for providing the video of the first color M-mode Doppler to Ultrasound-History@OBGYN.net. Geoffrey Stevenson's Email describing the history of the video I have a couple of questions. In your Email describing the video there is this: "It was shown during two abstracts at the American Heart Association meeting in Anaheim, November 1999." I am assuming this was a typo and should have been 1979... correct? Also, in this first Doppler video there is no Color Bar & Scale... did this video use the "Blue away and Red toward" configuration to represent flow toward or away from the transducer? If so can you add anything to the history of this color map usage? I ask this because in all the other physical sciences, particularly astronomy, red shifts demonstrate longer wave lengths, where as blue shifts represent shorter shifts. Do you know when or why medical ultrasound started using a configuration that was the reverse of the astronomical view? Thanks again for your help and participation. Because of color of San Francisco' bus (or something like that) : blue away the station, red toward the central station I read that a long time ago in this maillist.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
