Listers: I have been performing genetic amniocentesis for many years and have always re-inserted the stylette after completing the removal of fluid. I was taught to do that and have alwyas done it. The theory behind it is that by not re-inserting the stylette, one leaves a "track" which potentially can lead to infection. Does any one have any data which documents or supports this? Thanks

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
