Breast AbscessFrom: Maggiemae2605@aol.comThu May 16 18:21:14 2002
I have a history of breast abscess on the right breast a few years ago. It initially became evident when I knocked my breast. I was treated initially with antibiotics to no avail. Eventually it became very painful and I went to the hospital where they performed aspiration drainage. Recently I have noticed that both my breasts have discharge when I apply any pressure. My right breast has a retracted nipple and at the moment is very painful. I recently attended the doctor and he sent me for an ultrasound. Nothing showed up on my right nipple but I think when they did the ultrasound they only did it around my nipple and not on the nipple itself. It is very painful to the touch. There is no discharge but when I palpate it I can feel a hard lump directly below the nipple and in the region of my scar from the previous abscess. Should I go to Accident and Emergency at the hospital to have this investigated further or is there anything I can help to draw it out? I also have two benign cysts in my left breast and am currently awaiting a consultation. Please advise.
