Informal Case: Focal Myometrial ContractionFrom: Brian Perez (brianp@clinedavis.com)Tue Apr 30 09:37:27 2002
My wife is 11 weeks into her pregnancy. She was diagnosed last week with having an umbilical cord cyst. Her OB/GYN told her that it is not a major problem. We have tried to find out as much information as possible on this. We, unfortunately, have not found sufficient information yet. The little that we have found indicates that if the cyst goes away before the end of the first trimester, that there are no complications with the pregnancy. What we have not discovered is what are the ramifications if the cyst does not disappear, but in fact is still present during the second and/or third trimester. The limited information we have dug up is not encouraging. If you could please help us by providing some information or where we could find more information on this. My wife does have an appointment with a specialist on May 7th. We would like to have as much information as possible before we see him/her. We would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Sincerely yours, Brian Perez

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
