Re: new roomsFrom: Sharpies (sharpies@clear.net.nz)Mon Jan 28 23:50:29 2002
There are 3 newly equipped and purpose built units within the Wellington NZ area - I would suggest you look at the New Ultrasound and Imaging departments recently purpose built with state of the art digital imaging, archiving, all sites linked digitally for immediate Radiologist response and collaboration. This is an NZQA accredited centre within your region (ie accredited practicitioner and processes etc etc) - your processes and unit would have to match such a unit as the 'Standard for NZQA' accreditation has been set and accepted here. This unit already provides a high proportion of Wellington Hospital's A&E, acute and other imaging services - 2 sites being within 5 minute walking distance of Wellington Hospital and said 'New Hosiptal Site' -. Reports reach the requesting clinician within 48 hours (usually 24 hours) - Hard copy images are retained by the patient and all reports and images are digitally archived on site for future revisit or duplication. Throughput is exceptionally well co-ordinated with minimal patient waiting time. Alternatively, there are at least several proposed plans - presented annually - for Wellington Hospital 'New' - all shelved for future laterallity in thinking. They are well worth looking at before putting in lots of time and effort. My guess is that most services will eventually be 'contracted out' as in other areas of NZ where medical services and adequately skilled personnel are in short supply. Good luck with your endeavours
> - ----- Original Message ----- Hello Our department is undergoing planning for a purpose built O&G ultrasound department in a new hospital. We have been asked for our requirements and suggestions. Have any of you been through this recently and have some good ideas. We will need at least 4 ultrasound rooms, storage, reporting, reception, etc. I know we have to develop the plans for our own needs but maybe some of you can help us avoid some problems in doing so. Any suggestions would be helpful. You can email me directly if you want. Thanks Linda Strand Sonographer Perinatal Ultrasound Unit Wellington Hospital Wellington, New Zealand

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
