Re: nuchal cordsFrom: Allen Worrall (jworrall@alaska.net)Tue Jan 15 11:09:10 2002
One of the things folks should keep in mind in the debate about reporting ultrasonically detected nuchal cords: it is likely to cause the patient and her family a good deal of worry. It is unlikely the obstetrical provider is going to do anything with the information you provide. There are circumstances where it is probably wise to report the cord around the neck: deep indentation near term. Completely around the neck in a breech near term. Multiple loops such as the case Mary presented. Allen Joseph A Worrall MD RDMS The Fairbanks Clinic 1919 Lathrop Street, Suite 100 Fairbanks, AK 99701 jworrall@alaska.net 1 907 451 4225

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
