what i would like to know is whether Dr. Hossain witnessed the comments by the sonographer or whether this represented his patient's account. that is the "telephone" phenomenon to which i was alluding. i have had refeering docs calling to relay their patient's account of conversations during the exam which in no way represented those actually said. i tend to regard all hearsay commentary with the same skepticism regarded by the courts.

as for the possibility that abdominal transducer pressure resulted in miscarriage - preposterous. in that case, termination of pregnancy by ultrasound would be an accepted technique. additionally, at least at term, the full bladder tends to delay delivery, not facilitate it.

i hope i've answered your question for i have many about such a patient encounter. when things don't seem right, they usually aren't.

just my opinion - i could be wrong.
