LATE TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY FOR FETAL ABNORMALITY
In the UK late termination of pregnancy for severe anomalies after 21+6
weeks must be done using a technique which ensures the fetus is dead before
delivery. This is usually done by fetocide, the intracardiac injection of
potassium chloride into the fetal heart. I am involved in a film examining
the issues around the law and ethics of a fictional late fetocide in the UK
but would be very grateful if someone from USA could inform me about the
gestational limits and laws surrounding late termiantion of pregnancy after
22 weeks or later when performed because of a substatntial risk of serious
handicap. Is there guidance from ACOG on this?
