> Subject: Scientific E-Journals - A User Study
>
> Dear Colleague,
>
> The rapid spread of electronic journals (e-journals) has affected the ways
>
> scientists and physicians use scientific journals. E-journals provide a
> variety of features to their users, and thus far, relatively few data have
>
> been collected about the usefulness of these features and how they affect
> the
> work of scholars and practitioners.
>
> The Stanford University Libraries ask your help in understanding the
> impact
> of e-journal features, as part of a large-scale study of the use of
> e-journals. We would greatly appreciate your taking a few minutes to fill
> out
> our online e-journals survey by going to the following address (or
> clicking on
> this link) http://www.surveyhosting.net/stanford/usersurvey.htm?1700
> within the next seven (7) days. The survey asks questions about your use
> of
> e-journal features (including e-mail alerts), features you'd like to see
> in
> the future, and related scholarly practices such as searching for
> articles,
> staying current in your field and subscribing to journals. Responses to
> the
> survey will be analyzed and published in an aggregate format only on the
> project website (the URL is below) in Spring, 2002.
>
> Funded by the Mellon Foundation, this study is being conducted in
> cooperation
> with many of the scholarly societies that publish their electronic
> editions
> with the help of Stanford's HighWire Press. Those societies, recognizing
> the
> need to gather data about the use of e-journals and their features, have
> graciously enabled us to send this request to the e-mail addresses of
> those
> who signed up for their "email table of contents" services, including
> yours.
>
> If you would like additional information about the study of which the
> survey
> is a part, please go to the home page for the project listed below. We
> will
> respect your privacy absolutely (the URL for our privacy statement is also
>
> below).
>
> We hope you agree this is an important undertaking and will accordingly
> give
> it the benefit of your participation.
>
> I thank you prospectively for your assistance.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
