I agree, there is no obvious reason that 3D would have greater exposure... in fact as Dr. Nemescu points out, since the volume of information is acquired once and then later analyzed in detail, theoretically there might even be less exposure... depending upon the skill and experience of the person doing the comparative 2D imaging.

transducer does not scan in three plans simultaneously, technically is not possible. in fact is a normal transducer (the head - the inside part of it) which has an automatic rotation, so it acquires a number of ultrasound plans (images) during this movement. and that is all. moreover, this information, is stored into computer memory, and you use it later, without any other scan. i think that the exposure on us energy is the same as in conventional 2D scan. see http://www.medison.com
