Dear Medical Professionals I am a Registered Nurse. This is a personal enquiry. I found a lump just next to my umbilicus. It is about 1.5 inches wide, firm to palpate and very mobile, in fact it slides around above the umbilicus and below. It is painful if you press on it. Went to a doctor today and he said its a fatty limpoma or a swollen lymph node. Most unlikely to be malignant because it is sore and so close to the top of the skin. Question: Would this lesion be picked up by ultrasound to see how big it is? What do you think of his advice? I was advised not to aspirate or doing anything with it. I have been fasting for 10 days and it might go away when I start eating again. So he said come back in 2 weeks and see if its gone. He is running a CBC with diff, ESR, Comprehensive Metabolic Profile and a lipid profile. Thanks if you have any input. Regards

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit.
