Oh, I forgot to add one thing: if you were on birth control pills for months prior to the cyst being discovered, that lessens the chance that the cyst is functional and increases somewhat the chance that the cyst is a neoplasm. The ovaries of women who are on birth control pills usually are relatively inactive and do not ovulate and thus do not form follicles.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
