FW: Equipment History in Ultrasound/ Echocardiography ThreadFrom: DuboseTerryJ@uams.eduMon Jul 16 14:13:47 2001
Dear, June, I am forwarding your message to the History of Ultrasound Forum at OBGYN.net where it will be archived. Thanks for this. If you would like to elaborate on your history, please go to: http://forums.obgyn.net/ultrasound-history/ <http://forums.obgyn.net/ultrasound-history/> I know you could not have worked with Holmes & Gottesfeld and not have more to tell us about those early days. Do you have any photos that could be scanned and shared? Thanks for your participation. Peace, Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS, APS Assistant Professor & Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program CHRP, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Little Rock, Arkansas, USA 501-686-6510 http://www.io.com/~dubose/ <http://www.io.com/~dubose/> http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm <http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm> http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm <http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm> From: june standley [mailto:drjunebug@hotmail.com] Sent: Saturday, July 14, 2001 12:13 PM To: Multiple recipients of list SONOGRAPHERS-CONNECTION Subject: Re: Equipment History in Ultrasound/ Echocardiography Thread Sorry I've been so slow to respond. I started in ultrasound in 1973 as an apprentice (with no prior medical experience) in Dr. Holmes' lab at CGH, CU School of Med. Talk about OLD! The equipment, that is. We had that gun turret right in our lab along with all the old polaroid film envelopes. It gave the lab that vintage museum feel. We worked with Unirad and Picker static B-scan; and HP for the cardiac. Ken Gottesfeld was our OB/GYN guru; Dr. Joseph Holmes was our abdominal guru; and Spangler our cardiac guru. Since we were the center for learning at that time, within a month or so, I was actually training docs and other techs from around the world. Truly the blind leading the blind. I still have vivid memories of it all, so if you would like any other info, let me know.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
