Dear Dr. The-Hung Bui, This was a presentation made at an IFUMB conference at Hyderabad, India. I was asked to talk on Interventional procedures. Since CVS, Amniocentesis and PUBS have been repeatedly covered in so many such meetings( I have done these procedures too) , I chose to bring awareness to some procedures that are not commonly done. I came across coelocentesis( never done one, but I know it is possible) in the very book you have mentioned. Bui T-H, Deprest JA, Jauniaux E, Wilson RD. Current perspectives and new developments in ultrasound guided invasive procedures for prenatal diagnosis and therapy. In: R. Jaffe and T-H Bui, eds. Textbook of Fetal Ultrasound. New York & London: The Parthenon Publishing Group, 1999, chap. 17, 259-286. I did mention at the end of the Coelocentesis part that it is risky and has a high risk of miscarriage. And, it has been stated in the book at the end of the chapter on Coelocentesis that a lot of work has to be done before this can be used routinely. Thankyou Dr.Bui for helping me to put things in proper perpective. With regards, Dr.Udayakumar

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
