FW: SDMS Sound Advice list serverFrom: DuboseTerryJ@uams.eduThu May 24 13:45:12 2001
The SDMS has shut down SoundAdvice due to viruses... it will be reestablished as in-house, archived, searchable lists for several different topics. See below for more information. Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS, Assistant Professor Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program CHRP, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Little Rock, Arkansas, USA 501-686-6510 http://www.io.com/~dubose/ <http://www.io.com/~dubose/> http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm <http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm> http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm <http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm> -----[TJDuB] ---------------------------- Original Message----- From: Don Kerns [mailto:dkerns@sdms.org] -----[TJDuB] ---------------------------- Original Message----- Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2001 1:39 PM -----[TJDuB] ---------------------------- Original Message----- To: Allstaff; SDMS Board Subject: SDMS Sound Advice list server At the bottom of this message is an announcement I just sent to the subscribers to the SDMS Sound Advice list server. We have closed the list because of ongoing problems with viruses being sent to list participants. The list hosting company was unable to effectively block all viruses (they were able to only block certain files while others got through). But fortunately, we were already finalizing the new "SDMS Discussion Forums" - more than 30 topics and they are fully archived/searchable! We will be passing along additional information about the Forums to staff/Board in the next few days with a planned launch of June 1 (to be announced in the May 31 SDMS Sound News). Let me know if you have any questions. -- Don K =================================================== Donald Kerns, BS, MCSE, MCDBA Deputy Executive Director/Chief Information Officer Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography 12770 Coit Rd Ste 708 Dallas TX 75251-1319 972-239-7367 x184 972-239-7378 FAX dkerns@sdms.org =================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING: SDMS Sound Advice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is to let the subscribers to the SDMS Sound Advice list server know that the list is unavailable. Due to ongoing problems with viruses being sent to the list and the list host's (Listbox.com) inability to effectively prevent the viruses from being distributed to list subscribers, effectively immediately we have CLOSED THE LIST. Again, we caution you make sure you have the latest antivirus detection on your computer at all times! And do not open attachments unless you can confirm their source and purpose. We were already in the process of the development of a new generation of "discussion forums" with more than 30 discussion areas. The SDMS Discussion Forums add many new features to enhance the member's experience: 1) The forums do not allow attachments to be posted so viruses cannot accidentally be sent to others. 2) The forums have a search capability that includes searching previous messages by word, topic, date, member name, and more. 3) The forums are archived so you can see what others have said about a topic. 4) It's easier to have a private discussion with other members. Often, email list subscribers accidentally send email to everyone on the list rather than to the intended recipient. This can be quite embarrassing! With the SDMS Discussion Forums, you can email another member directly, hold discussions using various instant messaging tools, or use our simple online chat utility (with no software to install). 5) Because the discussions are separated into topic areas, you don't have to review hundreds of messages on unrelated topics. In addition, with the built-in search capability, you can search across topic areas to see if anyone has posted something of interest in any of the topic areas. 6) It's easier to view/understand the sequence (thread) of the discussion. 7) The SDMS Discussion Forums are accessible anywhere in the world at anytime using a web browser. 8) You can bookmark messages for later review. 9) You can easily print an entire discussion thread. 10) You can display on the "active" topics to quickly review what has been posted in the past hour, day, week, etc. 11) You can email a friend with a link to a particular message. The SDMS Discussion Forums are scheduled to be available on June 1 and will be available to SDMS members only. Watch for the next issue of our monthly email newsletter, SDMS Sound News for more details on how to access the SDMS Discussion Forums. We apologize for having to take the drastic action of closing the SDMS Sound Advice however we believe you will find the new SDMS Discussion Forums to be far more useful. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
