Dear Sally, in reply: 1)Yes-there are Downs that don't have cardiac or vascular defects-it's a syndrome 2)NT test alone up to now,has shown a 75% PPV. 3)A combination of NT,PAPP-A and free B-HCG raises this level to 90%. Andrea CordaMD
> ----- Original Message ----- http://www.obgyn.net/avtranscripts/aium2000_benacerraf.htm Have you noticed a combination of a thin nuchal translucency (ie. 0.8mm) with a low PAPP A and high HCG screening test, having an outcome of a Down's baby? Is it possible for a Down's fetus to have such a thin nuchal translucency and if so, what is the value of the test when such a variation is possible? Thankyou in advance for replying to my email. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
