Re: OB-GYN-L digest 1457From: DuboseTerryJ@uams.eduMon Apr 9 09:59:24 2001
Dear Ms. Slaman-Forsythe; thanks for your heads-up about the Gideon's Crossing show tonight about sonography and TTTS. I hope you are also advising people to be sure that the individuals performing their ultrasounds are appropriately educated and certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (http://www.ARDMS.org). Thanks for your good work. Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS, Assistant Professor Chair, Ultrasound OBGYN.net Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program CHRP, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Little Rock, Arkansas, USA 501-686-6510 http://www.io.com/~dubose/ http://www.uams.edu/CHRP/dmshome.htm http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2001 11:15:20 EDT From: TTTSFound@aol.com To: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net Subject: TWIN TO TWIN TRANSFUSION SYNDROME-GIDEON'S CROSSING Message-ID: <71.c3643eb.27ff3788@aol.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear Doctors, Just wanted everyone on the list to know that twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) will involved with patients on the Gideon's Crossing show this Monday night April 9th at 10pm eastern (9pm central I believe). The storyline is not as long and detailed as hoped, but I have been working with the writer for the show on getting some facts out there. The TTTS Foundation advocates weekly ultrasounds from 16 weeks through delivery for mothers pregnant with a monochorionic placenta to look for the warning signs of TTTS and the warning signs for a small placetal share of one of the babies. If you have patients with twins and they complain of being too big or pain, please start seeing them weekly. Many losses happen because the mother's doctor tells them they are 'just pregnant with twins' or 'it is just your first pregnancy and you are not aware of normal feelings'. I am sure no one on this list says that though! If you do run into parents showing the signs of TTTS, please encourage them to contact us for support and education at 1800-815-9211 and tttsfoundation.org (we are currently updating our site off-line). Thank you, Mary Slaman-Forsythe Founder and President

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
