Re: Hysterosonogram ProtocalFrom: Allen Worrall (jworrall@alaska.net)Wed Mar 28 08:58:11 2001
I use a Soules or Goldstein catheter most of the time. The balloon catheters are much more expensive and are not necessary most of the time. In those cases where the water runs out as fast as we squirt it in, I replace the Soules with the balloon tip catheter. I explain all this to the patient before the procedure. Has anyone ever heard of an infection or a perforation from sonohysterogram? I think these risks are theoretical, and there certainly is no harm in mentioning this to the patient, but I do not think it has happened. I would be glad to hear of any complications from sonohysterogram. Joseph A Worrall MD RDMS

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
