Mary.

No, no specific measurements for Pelvic Congestion Syndrome... I now tend to just use my gut... gestalt. We did quite a bit of research on this subject back in the 1980's and found that we could observe and measure changes in the female reproductive vessels throughout the menstrual cycle (specifically we measured the uterine arcuate vessels, but found that the vessels in the adnexa also respond to the hormones)... estrogen causes vessels dilation at mid cycle, the vessels constrict at menses which is what causes the menses to start. Sort of starves off the proliferated endometrium. Ken Taylor, Yale Univ, also measured Doppler changes in the uterine vessels.

Also, in Fetal Sonography, W. B. Saunders 1996, CHAPTER 16: EXTRA-FETAL STRUCTURES of PREGNANCY.

Mary, I hope this helps... you might also want to query the Ultrasound Section of OBGYN.net.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
