confirming ultrasound datesFrom: Marilyn Rathan (marilyn.rathan@jus.gov.on.ca)Mon Jan 22 11:22:57 2001
THe first day of my last period was October 7th. When I went for my ultrsound on december 20th they said that I was 10 weeks 3 days. If you count that back it takes you back to the first day of my period. DOes ultrasound put on two weeks because we all know that you dont get pregnant during your period it normally happens 14 days after the first day of your period. DO they add on two weeks because they dont know the exact days that you ovulated. Would that be why they say that a pregnancy is 40 weeks because that is based off your period, but really preg is 38 weeks. THe other thing is that do they consider the first day of pregnancy after the egg has been implanted? Is that why you get bleeding few days later or bad menstrual cramps? I am anxious to hear a response to the questions Marilyn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
