I live in the Northeast United States. I would guess that at least 85% of the patients I deal with want to know the sex of the fetus, and we routinely tell them. I find that just as many women are looking for a boy as men are. Conversely, I have met several men, who are finding out they are having their second girl, who think all men should be so privileged as to have a "Daddy's Girl." There's no easy answer. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
