The Delta is the difference from a baseline curve. OD is optical density. 450 is at 450 nanometers. So it is the increased absorbance at 450 nm versus elsewhere in the spectrum. This is the classical way to measure bilirubin in the amniotic fluid, and the basis of Liley's curve and Zones of fetal risk of this value versus gestational age. I apologize for the jargon. Once the just like sickle cell - because the trait gives a large selection advantage from clearing the intraerythrocytic stage of malaria parasites, or so I am told.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
