I would search for fetal infection as well as for chromosomal abnormalities (although no markers were found' early IUGR is also connected to chromosomal abnormalities) but the most likely diagnosis is placental insufficiency. How is the fetal blood flow in the vessels? I'd look for thrombophilia as well! She'll probably need aspirin and/or clexan in the current and next pregnancies! Yaron Zalel, MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
